Travertine heap Vápnik, locally also known as Šiklóš, is situated southeast from Levice. It reaches altitude of 274 m above the sea level and ranks among the largest, now already extinct travertine heaps in Slovakia, There used to be resources of travertine and onyx marble known as Golden Onyx in this locality. Thanks to its beauty, it is considered a European unique and one of the most expensive processed stones in general. Products made of the Golden Onyx still decorate various buildings, community centres and memorials.

There was an observation point of Marshal Malinovsky, the commander of the 2nd Ukrainian Front on the Vápnik hill during the World War II. Now there is a concrete memorial with an observation tower. The memorial was reconstructed at the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II in 2015. The view of the town and surrounding countryside is beautiful. Tourists and bikers will enjoy it.
