The first written notice of Horša is from 1295, then under the name Horhy. Its name was derived from Horhy family that still owned the village in 1552.

Since 1986, the village of Horša has been affiliated to the town of Levice. There are three historical monuments in the village. The oldest of them, baroque curia, was built in 1755 by Belházy family. The classicist evangelical church was built in 1820. Two bells were located in a separate wooden bell tower next to the church. The romantic – late classicist Reformed Christian church is dated back to 1869.  Originally, there were five common wells in the village. None of them are used today since they were replaced with a public water line. In 2015, the municipality revitalised the surroundings of an unused well and created a new relax zone for inhabitants and visitors of the nature reserve Horšianska dolina (Horša Valley).  The valley is situated not far from the southern foot of the volcanic Štiavnica mountains. The locality with the area of 313.38 ha was declared a nature reserve in 1976. The depth of the valley is several dozens meters, the rock formations on the slopes reach to the height of 20 – 30 m. There is an educational trail in the Horša valley.
